Lamine Yamal Pushes FC Barcelona To Sign Victor Osimhen As Napoli Chief Admits ‘Big Mistake
Rising Lamine Yamal has reportedly advised FC Barcelona to pursue the signing of Victor Osimhen during the upcoming summer transfer window as the club prepares for a future beyond Robert Lewandowski. According to Ireporter Online, discussions within the Catalan club have intensified as Lewandowski approaches the latter stage of his career, prompting the search for a long-term successor.
Reports indicate that Yamal considers Osimhen, who is currently on the books of Galatasaray S.K., as a perfect addition to Barcelona’s attacking setup. The young winger is said to have described the Nigerian striker as a crucial missing element capable of spearheading the attack while effectively combining with the team’s creative players on the flanks. He is also believed to rate Osimhen’s physicality and intelligent movement as qualities that could ease pressure on the team’s defense and create more attacking opportunities in advanced areas.
Osimhen, valued at approximately €75 million, could command a significantly higher fee, with expectations that his current club may demand in excess of €100 million. His future continues to generate widespread speculation following a complicated departure from Napoli.
Further insights emerged as Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis acknowledged that the club’s decision to part ways with the striker was influenced by manager Antonio Conte, a move he now concedes was an error. Osimhen had previously played a pivotal role in Napoli’s historic 2023 Serie A triumph, scoring 26 goals to end the club’s 33-year title drought and earning the prestigious Paolo Rossi Award.
Despite committing to a contract extension in December 2023, an earlier arrangement had paved the way for his exit ahead of the 2024–2025 season. A series of failed transfer moves, including proposed switches to Chelsea and Al-Ahli, eventually led to his temporary move to Galatasaray.
