Governor Mbah Leads Enugu Stakeholders To Meet President Tinubu (Photos)

According to Ireporter Online, the delegation was led by Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside other political and community leaders from the state.

During the meeting, President Tinubu assured the Enugu delegation of his administration’s continued commitment to addressing critical infrastructure challenges, particularly in rail and power development. He noted that ongoing reforms and planned interventions in key sectors would further strengthen economic growth across the country, with special attention to the South-East corridor.

Tinubu specifically acknowledged concerns raised on the Port Harcourt–Enugu rail line and broader power sector reforms, stating that such infrastructure projects remain central to his administration’s development agenda and would receive sustained attention.

The visit comes amid recent political realignments, including Governor Mbah’s defection to the ruling APC. The development has continued to generate reactions within Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly from opposition circles.

Reacting to the wave of defections from the PDP to the APC, the opposition party maintained that governors who left its platform would eventually regret their decisions. The PDP also criticised the APC’s stance on automatic tickets for defecting politicians, describing it as evidence that the ruling party does not fully reward loyalty.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, argued that the defectors were driven by personal interests rather than public service considerations, insisting that their political choices would soon have consequences.
