RMB And Latitudes Spark Creative Dialogue With Lagos Exhibition

According to Ireporter Online, Lagos’ thriving art landscape came into sharp focus as Rand Merchant Bank (RMB) and Latitudes jointly unveiled the RMB Latitudes Nigeria Focus exhibition, an initiative designed to spotlight contemporary Nigerian artists while positioning their work within wider African and global creative conversations.

The exhibition, held at Miliki Private Club on Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together a diverse mix of artists, curators, collectors, and stakeholders in the creative industry. The event served as a networking and engagement platform, reinforcing efforts to deepen collaboration within Nigeria’s expanding creative economy. It also highlighted RMB Latitudes’ broader mission of fostering stronger cultural linkages across Africa while projecting local artistic expression onto the global stage.

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of RMB, Bayo Ajayi, described the initiative as a reflection of the institution’s commitment to Africa’s cultural and creative sectors. He noted that art remains a powerful tool for shaping identity, driving dialogue, and envisioning future possibilities. According to him, platforms such as Nigeria Focus are essential in ensuring that Nigerian creative perspectives gain visibility, recognition, and meaningful engagement both within the continent and internationally.

Ajayi further reaffirmed RMB’s dedication to supporting creative ecosystems capable of generating sustainable opportunities for artists, while also contributing to broader socio-economic development across the region.

Also speaking, Co-founder and Director of Latitudes Online RMB Latitudes Art Fair, Roberta Coci, described the Lagos exhibition as a significant milestone for the initiative. She explained that the project, developed through months of collaboration and engagement, had surpassed expectations in terms of impact and reception.

Coci emphasized that the energy, openness, and sophistication of Nigeria’s creative community underscored the importance of building lasting cultural bridges across Africa, adding that the Lagos edition of Nigeria Focus further strengthens the vision of continental artistic integration.
