Nollywood Star Funke Akindele Reportedly Stranded In London
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has criticised Air Peace following an incident that left her and several other passengers stranded at Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom. According to Ireporter Online, the actress disclosed via her social media platform that travellers, including elderly individuals, were left waiting for several hours without access to their luggage, accommodation, or clear updates from the airline.
She described the situation as unacceptable, noting that passengers had been held at the airport since early morning after being informed that a bird strike had caused significant disruption to the flight schedule. The delay reportedly stretched for nearly 10 hours, during which affected passengers remained at the baggage claim area without food, rest, or proper communication.
The filmmaker further expressed frustration in subsequent updates, stating that many passengers had become exhausted while still awaiting their luggage and the hotel accommodation earlier promised by the airline. She urged the carrier to act swiftly by releasing passengers’ belongings and providing the necessary welfare support.
In its response, Air Peace acknowledged the inconvenience caused and expressed sympathy to affected travellers, explaining that the disruption resulted from circumstances beyond its control. The airline added that safety remains its top priority and assured that efforts were ongoing to assist passengers and restore normal operations.
