Leke Abejide Quits ADC In Sh*ck Exit
Leke Abejide, the lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has officially announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to Ireporter Online, Abejide made the declaration on Friday during a press conference held in Abuja, where he explained his reasons for exiting the party he once played a key role in building.
The federal lawmaker stated that he joined the ADC and contributed significantly to its growth, claiming he nurtured it to national prominence with representation in both the National Assembly and state legislatures. He also noted that he personally financed the party structure during his tenure as a national leader before willingly handing over leadership to the current national chairman, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe.
Abejide, however, alleged that elements within the opposition coalition led by former Senate President David Mark had “hijacked” the party, a development he said influenced his decision to leave.
He described his exit as a difficult but necessary step to safeguard his political future, stressing that he could no longer remain in a party he helped build but which, according to him, had been taken over by external forces.
The Kogi lawmaker added that his decision was also guided by legal advice and hinted that his next political destination would soon be made public. While he declined to disclose the party he plans to join, he suggested that the revelation would become clear once he formally obtains his nomination form.
Abejide’s resignation marks a significant development within the ADC, amid ongoing internal disputes and realignments within Nigeria’s opposition political landscape.
