ADC Chieftain Nwobu Opens Up On Peter Obi’s Painful Exit

Speaking during a consultative meeting of ADC leaders in Awka on Friday, party chieftain Ndubuisi Nwobu said the Anambra chapter of the party remains united and motivated despite recent political realignments involving some opposition figures.

According to reports, Nwobu wished Obi and other members who recently left the party well in their new political platforms, while expressing optimism that opposition forces in the country could still reunite before the 2027 elections.

He argued that continued division among opposition parties would weaken their chances of success at the polls, stressing that political actors must begin to place collective victory above personal ambition.

Nwobu maintained that many opposition leaders would eventually realise the need for collaboration, adding that there is still a possibility of future cooperation between the ADC and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) before the next presidential election.

The ADC chieftain further stated that while political aspiration remains a constitutional right, politicians must also evaluate whether their ambitions would ultimately translate into electoral victory.

During the meeting, party leaders disclosed that nine aspirants had already obtained nomination forms to contest for seats in the House of Representatives, while six others picked forms to run for positions in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The leaders also reaffirmed their loyalty to the national leadership of the ADC under David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.
