Nigeria Would Have Collapsed Without Tinubu’s Policies

Speaking at a Northern Stakeholders Town Hall held in Kaduna on Saturday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, said the government’s policies, including the removal of petrol subsidy and foreign exchange reforms, were designed to restore fiscal stability, rebuild investor confidence and position the country for sustainable economic growth.

According to reports, Dare acknowledged that Nigerians have faced significant hardship following the implementation of the reforms, but stressed that the measures were intended to address deep-rooted structural weaknesses in the economy.

He explained that the government could no longer sustain policies that placed enormous pressure on public finances without delivering lasting benefits to citizens. Describing the reforms as “difficult but necessary,” he noted that early signs of improvement were already emerging across critical sectors of the economy.

The presidential aide said the subsidy removal and exchange rate reforms were part of a broader economic strategy aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s financial foundation and creating the conditions for long-term national development.

The town hall was organised by supporters of the President under the banner of the Tinubu Door-to-Door Movement, with participants expressing support for Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The National Coordinator of the movement, Sunday Adekanbi, said the initiative was designed to bridge the gap between government and citizens by providing a platform for direct engagement on governance and policy implementation.

He stated that the movement would continue to create opportunities for Nigerians to ask questions, offer observations and contribute to conversations on national development.

Also speaking at the event, Solomon Gushibet, reviewed the long-term economic implications of the Federal Government’s reforms. He said their success would depend on consistent implementation, effective communication and the government’s ability to respond to public concerns.

Representing Uba Sani, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the removal of petrol subsidy had significantly improved the financial capacity of states to pursue development projects and support governance priorities.

Maiyaki also linked the gradual return of peace to previously troubled communities in Kaduna State to targeted governance and security initiatives introduced by the state administration.

Participants at the town hall called for continuity in the Federal Government’s economic policies, arguing that sustained implementation would be critical to achieving long-term stability and development.

Organisers disclosed that similar engagements would be held across other parts of the country to deepen dialogue between the government and citizens while gathering grassroots feedback on policy implementation.
