Lawyer And NYSC Member Found Alive In Abuja After Four Days Missing

According to Ireporter Online, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the safe recovery of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and legal practitioner, Linda Ameh, who was earlier declared missing in Abuja.

The police stated that Ameh, who was reported missing on May 6, later appeared at the Maitama Police Station where she provided details surrounding her disappearance. This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh.

The command disclosed that investigations have commenced to identify and apprehend those responsible for the incident, noting that the victim is currently assisting investigators with relevant information to aid the ongoing probe.

Authorities, however, did not disclose where she was found or the circumstances leading to her return. It also remains unclear whether any ransom was paid prior to her recovery, although earlier reports indicated that her suspected abductors had demanded ₦20 million from her family.

Ameh was said to have gone missing shortly after closing from work at Blades and Butchers Ltd in Maitama around 5:40 p.m. on May 6, while heading home to Life Camp. Her phone lines reportedly went unreachable shortly after, prompting concerns from family members.

The matter was subsequently reported to the Maitama Police Division and the NYSC, triggering an investigation. The case gained public attention after reports of the ransom demand surfaced, heightening concerns over her safety.

Police authorities had earlier assured that efforts were underway to trace her whereabouts and unravel the circumstances of her disappearance.

With her return confirmed, the FCT Police Command says focus has now shifted to tracking down and prosecuting those behind the incident.
