According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian actor, model, entertainer and humanitarian Alex Ekubo has established himself as one of Nollywood’s most recognisable screen personalities through a steady rise in film, television and entertainment projects.

Born on April 10, 1986, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and originally from Arochukwu in Abia State, Ekubo is widely known for his tall frame, charismatic screen presence and multilingual ability in English, Igbo and Hausa. His breakthrough came in 2010 after finishing as first runner-up in the Mr Nigeria competition, a milestone that significantly boosted his visibility and opened doors into modelling and acting.

Following this early exposure, he transitioned into Nollywood, where he gradually built a solid acting career featuring in romantic dramas, comedies and television productions that expanded his fan base both locally and internationally. Over the years, he has become a familiar face in the industry, admired for his versatility and consistent performances.

Ekubo was educated at Federal Government College, Daura, Katsina State, before proceeding to the University of Calabar, where he studied Law, and later obtained a degree in Mass Communication from Calabar Polytechnic. He began his professional acting career in the early 2010s and has since featured in several notable films including Lagos Cougars, Weekend Getaway, In the Cupboard, Dream Walker, Blazing Heart, The First Lady, Hire a Woman, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, Sugar Rush, and Fate of Alakada.

Beyond acting, he has also built a strong reputation as a model, television personality, brand ambassador and social media influencer, while actively engaging in humanitarian and charitable initiatives. His contributions to entertainment and social impact earned him recognition on several platforms, including induction into the MIPAD/United Nations Most Influential People of African Descent Top 100 Under 40 Hall of Fame in 2020, as well as multiple awards and honorary distinctions from institutions across Africa.

His accolades include the BEFFTA Award for Nollywood Rising Star (2014), Screen Nation Award for Favourite Male African Emerging Talent (2014), Nigerian Teen Choice Award for Outstanding TV Personality (2015), Best of Nollywood Awards for Best Actor (2016 and 2022), among several others, as well as international recognitions for his humanitarian efforts and youth ambassadorship roles.

Over time, Ekubo has continued to blend entertainment with philanthropy, positioning himself as one of Nollywood’s most influential contemporary figures.
