According to IReporter Online, the lawmaker representing Edo North in the Senate, Adams Oshiomhole, has dismissed speculations suggesting that he is eyeing the position of Senate President.

Oshiomhole made the clarification during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, where he stressed that he cannot begin to pursue leadership ambitions when he has not yet secured a fresh mandate.

He explained that his current tenure is nearing its end and noted that he is focused on seeking re-election from his constituents rather than projecting future political roles. According to him, it would be inappropriate to assume outcomes or “play God” in a democratic process that is still unfolding.

Oshiomhole stated that he has already applied for renewal of his mandate and expressed confidence in the screening process, adding that he remains hopeful of securing his party’s ticket at the upcoming primaries before facing the general election scheduled for January 15.
