Ondo Government Calls For Peaceful Primaries And Party Unity

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, the government described the upcoming primaries as a significant democratic exercise for the ruling party and emphasized the need for a transparent, orderly and violence-free process.

According to Ireporter Online, the government called on all aspirants, party leaders and supporters to ensure the primaries are conducted without rancour before, during and after the voting process.

The administration reaffirmed that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains committed to maintaining peace and order throughout the exercise in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The government noted that Ondo State has earned a reputation for political maturity and democratic excellence and urged party members to preserve that standard through disciplined conduct.

It also stated that the state government supports the directive of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, which recommends direct primaries where no consensus candidate emerges.

According to the statement, the Ondo chapter of the APC remains committed to adhering to the guidelines and internal democratic principles established by the party’s national leadership.

The government described the primaries as an important step in strengthening the party ahead of future elections, particularly President Tinubu’s anticipated re-election campaign in 2027.

It stressed that unity, discipline and peaceful coexistence among members would reinforce the APC’s position as a cohesive political force focused on achieving shared objectives.

The state government appealed to all stakeholders to place the interests of the party and Ondo State above personal ambition and called on security agencies, electoral officials and party members to work together to ensure a credible and successful exercise across the state.
