Tambuwal Opens Up On Why Peter Obi, Kwankwaso Dumped ADC

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Tambuwal said the decision by both politicians to defect to the National Democratic Congress was a personal choice and should not be interpreted as evidence of internal division.

According to reports monitored by Ireporter Online, the departure of Obi, Kwankwaso, and several federal lawmakers had fueled concerns in political circles that the ADC-led opposition coalition was beginning to fracture ahead of the next general elections.

However, Tambuwal rejected the suggestion, stating that both politicians may have opted for another platform to gauge their electoral strength with Nigerian voters.

He maintained that their departure had nothing to do with any disagreement or breakdown within the party.

Tambuwal also dismissed allegations that the ADC’s presidential structure had been skewed in favour of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

He noted that neither Obi nor Kwankwaso publicly accused the party of bias and insisted that the leadership of former Senate President David Mark as national chairman guaranteed fairness and transparency.

Defending Mark’s integrity, Tambuwal said no serious political figure could question his impartiality, adding that all major stakeholders were actively involved in the party’s decision-making process.

He further revealed that Obi was given the opportunity to nominate the party’s National Organising Secretary, a position he described as the engine room of the ADC.

Tambuwal challenged claims that the party was dominated by Atiku loyalists, asking critics to identify any key office currently occupied by individuals working solely in Atiku’s interest.

According to him, the party’s leadership structure reflects inclusiveness and balance, contrary to allegations that any one aspirant had taken control of the ADC.
