Sandra Okunzuwa: Why I Ended My Relationship Over An On-Screen Kiss

Speaking during a recent episode of the BTS Reality podcast, the actress disclosed that her former boyfriend became upset after someone sent him a clip from one of her movies in which she shared a kiss with a fellow actor. According to Okunzuwa, his reaction reflected insecurity, prompting her to end the relationship.

The actress explained that filming intimate scenes is far from glamorous and rarely evokes genuine emotions due to the demanding and uncomfortable conditions on set.

Okunzuwa noted that such scenes are typically shot in the presence of a large production crew, with directors and crew members constantly giving instructions while air conditioning is often turned off to avoid sound interference.

She said these circumstances make it nearly impossible for actors to feel romantic or emotionally connected during filming.

According to the actress, romantic scenes can create tension in actors’ personal relationships, particularly when partners struggle to separate fiction from reality. She suggested that if films could maintain their appeal without such scenes, she would support removing them altogether.

Okunzuwa also urged viewers to distinguish between actors and the characters they portray, while acknowledging that not everyone is comfortable dating someone in the entertainment industry.

Reflecting on her own experience, she said she now understands why some individuals choose not to pursue relationships with actors, emphasizing that everyone has different boundaries and levels of tolerance in a partner.
