How I Escaped Abduction During Oyo School Attack – Aminah Speaks

According to Ireporter Online, a 12-year-old survivor of the recent attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has given a chilling account of how pupils escaped through classroom windows after armed men invaded their school during lessons.

The survivor, Aminah, disclosed that chaos erupted when gunshots were suddenly heard, adding that her teacher allegedly fled immediately, leaving the pupils to save themselves. She explained that the terrified children had no option but to jump out of windows and run into nearby bushes for safety.

Aminah, who spoke in Yoruba with the consent of her parents, said the attack occurred while teaching was ongoing in the classroom. She revealed that many of the pupils remained hidden in the bush for several hours before emerging later in the evening when they began hearing voices of residents searching for them.

She further noted that local community members eventually assisted in taking the children back home after they came out of hiding.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command confirmed that 32 pupils, students, and teachers abducted during coordinated attacks in the Ahoro-Esiele community are still unaccounted for. The police spokesperson, DSP Oluyinka Ayanlade, stated that the missing victims include seven secondary school students, 18 primary school pupils, and seven teachers.

The affected institutions include Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School. The attack reportedly occurred during school hours, with armed men abducting pupils, students, and staff, including the principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele, Mrs. Rachael Alamu.

The incident has sparked widespread panic across surrounding communities, with many parents withdrawing their children from schools amid growing fears of further attacks.

In response to the security concerns, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde disclosed that surveillance aircraft recently acquired by the state have arrived in Nigeria and are currently being assembled at a Nigerian Air Force facility in Lagos. He added that the aircraft would be deployed for intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance to strengthen security operations and curb kidnapping and violent attacks across the state.
