According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian socialite and businessman Paschal Okechukwu has responded to widespread criticism following his defeat in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency seat, where he lost to incumbent lawmaker Canice Nwachukwu.

Speaking during a live session with TikTok personality Peller, Okechukwu maintained that despite the electoral loss, he has been receiving unexpected support from within the party. He claimed that certain APC stakeholders have continued to show him goodwill, insisting that the outcome of the primary has not worked against his interests.

He further alleged that a party chairman rewarded him with a brand new car following his defeat, adding that the vehicle is expected to be delivered to him shortly. According to him, the gesture reflects how the party has treated him positively despite losing the ticket.

In a related remark, he also addressed political perceptions surrounding him, stating that President Bola Tinubu does not fully trust him due to his Igbo identity and his past association with former presidential candidate Peter Obi. He suggested that some individuals within the president’s circle view him as politically uncertain due to fears of possible shifts in allegiance.

Okechukwu further explained that his decision to exit Peter Obi’s political camp was motivated by a desire to avoid continued political setbacks, noting that he sought a more favourable political environment.
