2023: Why I Will Vote Peter Obi Over Other Candidates – Oby Ezekwesili

Former Education Minister Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili says she will not vote for the other top two candidates in the 2023 presidential election instead of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

She stated that the top three candidates can be easily rated using publicly available information and that based on her ratings, the Labour Party candidate is ahead of the other candidates.

“To the specific issue of a presidential candidacy, what I said and which I repeat everywhere that I am asked is that I look at the other two candidates and I rate them immediately on the basis of what we know, and for the three candidates there is publicly available information with which to do the rating.

“So after I have done my rating, there is absolutely no way I would leave a Peter Obi and vote for any of the other two candidates,” Ezekwesili said on Channels Television Hard Copy programme.

According to the former World Bank Vice President for Africa Region, an analytical perspective of what is likely to happen in 2023 indicates that a strong appetite for change is coming from the young segment of the population, which accounts for 60% of the voting population and many of whom support Obi’s presidency.

She also stated that women, who constitute approximately 51% of the voting population, are more inclined towards Peter Obi’s presidency, adding that the former Anambra governor’s prospects cannot be dismissed in light of the country’s various zones and their appetite for an inclusive approach to governance.

The improved activeness of the electorate, according to Ezekwesili, is one of the things that will excite people who have entered politics to effect change, adding that today’s electorate is not as disengaged as it was in 2019 and before.

She stated that young people, particularly women, are much more aware because they are tired of the government’s failure because the groundswell of interest that exists today did not exist in 2019.
