BREAKING: FG Declares Public Holidays For Chrismas And New Year Celebrations (SEE DATES)

The federal government has declared Monday, December 26th, Tuesday, December 27th, and Monday, January 2nd, 2023 as public holidays to commemorate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, respectively.

The declaration was made on behalf of the Federal Government by Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, in a statement signed by Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, on Friday in Abuja.

Aregbesola congratulated Christians and all Nigerians at home and abroad on the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

He urged Christians to follow Christ’s doctrines of faith, hope, and love. “We must imbibe the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on Humility, Service, Compassion, Patience, Peace and Righteousness, that His birth signifies. “This will be the most effective way of portraying Christ and celebrating his birth,” he says.

He emphasizes the importance of peace and security for economic development and prosperity. He encourages Christians and Nigerians to make the most of this festive season by praying for the complete abolition of the insecurity that plagues our beloved country.

Aregbesola has strongly warned Nigerians not to be lulled into insensitive crisis by criminally motivated elements seeking to create anarchy in the country. “This requires deliberate responsibility and discipline on the part of all,” the Minister emphasizes.

The Minister urged Nigerians to be security conscious, asking them to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest security agency through the N-Alert application on Android and IOS, saying “when you see something do N-Alert, as this would elicit prompt response from security agents”.

Further, the Minister stated that this Yuletide requires spartan discipline in order to protect the lives and property of everyone in our community and the nation as a whole.

“Moderately celebrate the festival, avoid spreading fake news, and be responsible,” Aregbesola advised. Take it as a point of duty you own your father land “.

The Minister also assures that the government has put in place effective measures to protect people and property, and he expects Nigerians to help security agencies by providing useful information that will help them perform their duties.

Aregbesola urged all citizens to stay focused and expressed confidence that 2023 would be a better year for all of us, while wishing all Christians, in particular, a Merry Christmas and all Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous New Year’s celebration.
