2023 Elections: See What Dogara Just Did To PDP In Bauchi

Mr Yakubu Dogara, the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, has endorsed Air Marshal Sadiq Baba Abubakar (rtd) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Bauchi State governorship election next week.

Dogara led an Air Marshall Sadiq Baba Abubakar campaign team across Bauchi local governments, including Kirfi and Alkaleri, where Governor Bala Mohammed came from, and urged the people to vote Bala Mohammed out of office.

On Wednesday, Dogara told a large crowd of supporters in Bauchi State’s Alkaleri Local Government Area that the state is ready for a change in leadership.

He said: “We came to tell you the truth, that we need to effect a change of leadership in Bauchi State. I  came here to enlighten you that even though your son (Governor Mohammed) is there but since he is not doing well we should change him . I urge you all to cast your vote for Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar on Saturday.”

He referred to Air Marshal Abubakar as a father who will help the people of Bauchi State.

In the recently concluded National Assembly elections, Dogara endorsed and delivered the APC candidate for his Federal Constituency of Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa, Jafaru Leko, and the Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba.

The former Speaker is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and a member of the party’s presidential campaign council for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

He helped mobilize and lead a coalition of political parties and interest groups in Bauchi in 2019, which ousted former governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar and installed Senator Bala Mohammed.

However, shortly after the elections, governor Bala Mohammed broke all political agreements he had made prior to the election and declared political war on prominent citizens of the state who opposed his style of governance, including Dogara and an elderstatesman Alhaji Bello Kirfi, who was a minister in the second Republic under president Shehu Shagari.

Dogara had accused Mohammed of corruption, including failure to pay teachers’ and civil servants’ salaries.
