The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 20,850 personnel to safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets during Saturday’s by-elections across 12 states.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to conduct polls in 16 constituencies nationwide. In a statement issued by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Babatunde Afolabi, the Commandant-General, Ahmed Audi, explained that the deployment aims to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.

Audi assured that operatives would protect election materials, secure officials, and monitor proceedings in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, which leads election security operations. He also instructed the 12 state commandants to uphold professionalism, respect human rights, and work closely with other security agencies in Anambra, Edo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ogun, Oyo, Taraba, Kogi, Kano, Niger, and other affected states.

The Corps urged eligible voters to participate actively in the polls as a demonstration of their democratic rights and civic responsibility.
