Announcing the results at the closing ceremony, the Chief Judge, Colonel Adeniyi Adebayo, declared 22 Brigade the overall winner with 430 points. 12 Brigade followed with 400 points, while 42 Engineer Brigade secured third place with 380 points. The 32, 4, and 2 Division Garrison brigades ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, with the last receiving the symbolic “wooden spoon.”
Major General Obinna Onubogu, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division and Special Guest of Honour at the event, commended the participating brigades for their discipline, resilience, and military proficiency. He emphasized the significance of continuous training as a cornerstone of operational excellence and urged troops to prepare for future challenges.
He stated, “This competition highlights the vital role of consistent and purposeful training in building a professional force. It directly supports the Chief of Army Staff’s vision to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-motivated and combat-ready institution, capable of fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities in a joint and multi-agency setting.”
The GOC expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for his sustained support and provision of training resources. He also commended the Chief Judge, the organizing committee, and the host formation, 12 Brigade, for their successful coordination of the event.
Brigadier General Kasim Sidi, Commander of 12 Brigade, highlighted the impact of the competition on grooming junior soldiers for greater responsibilities. He applauded the participants for their exceptional courage, teamwork, and professionalism, which, he noted, exemplified the values of the Nigerian Army.
“This competition goes beyond trophies; it reinforces the core military values of discipline, resilience, and excellence,” Sidi remarked. “Every soldier, irrespective of rank, contributes significantly to operational success. The strength displayed throughout this event lays the foundation for future greatness.”
He also praised the GOC’s visionary leadership and reiterated the alignment of the competition with the Army’s broader goal of institutional transformation and enhanced operational readiness.
As the competition concluded, participants were encouraged to carry the lessons learned back to their formations and continue honing their skills for the challenges ahead.
