Tinubu Appoints Fayose, 25 Others Into Key Federal Positions
President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), alongside the appointment of several other individuals to key federal positions.
According to Ireporter Online, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the appointments in a statement on Monday, revealing changes across various government agencies and commissions.
Fayose was appointed to lead the REA board, with Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta named as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, alongside three previously appointed executive directors, will complete the board membership.
President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa (rtd) as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission, with several other members selected to serve on the commission.
Among those appointed are former Lagos House of Representatives member, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, who will serve as secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, and Yakubu Umar Barde were appointed as commissioners representing different states.
Other members of the commission include Dr Mai Adamu Yau from Borno State, Ginika Florence Tor from Enugu, Engineer Lawrence Okoh from Edo, and Bello Morenike Iyabode from Kogi.
In another appointment, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was earlier named Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, has been redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
The President also approved the appointment of Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company, and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro, a former council chairman, was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation in Kwara State, replacing Dr A.R. Kamal, who passed away in January.
Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman. Other members of the board include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was named Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.
The President further appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja to replace former Federal Housing Authority Executive Director of Finance, Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue a governorship ambition in Benue State.
The statement noted that all the appointments take immediate effect, as the administration continues its efforts to strengthen leadership across key government institutions.
