9 Years After Divorce, Damilola Adegbite Opens Up About Staying Single
According to Ireporter Online, Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has shared insights into why she has remained single since her 2017 divorce from Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh. The actress, who has a son, Brian, with her former husband, attributed her decision to the responsibilities of single parenthood.
In a recent Instagram story video, Adegbite explained that dating as a single parent demands careful consideration. She emphasized that choosing a partner now goes beyond personal feelings, extending to the individual’s capacity to be a positive influence on her child and the environment they would create together.
The Merry Men actress highlighted that character, morals, and values are critical when deciding who to welcome into her and her son’s life. She also warned against rushing into relationships purely for emotional comfort. “You’re not just choosing a partner for yourself anymore. You are choosing a second parent for your child. It’s not that I haven’t met some amazing men. There is a deeper question… do they have the morals, the values, the character that I would like my child to grow around?” Adegbite said.
She added, “You have to be sure that the person you are bringing into your life and into your child’s life is capable of being a good parent. Someone who would treat your child like theirs. Because at the end of the day, you are not just building a relationship, you are building a home. Choose wisely.”
Damilola Adegbite and Chris Attoh, who met while working on the soap opera Tinsel, welcomed their son in 2014 and married privately in Accra, Ghana, in February 2015. Their marriage lasted approximately two years before ending in divorce in September 2017.
