Nigerians would want to revisit his era as a military leader, marked by the controversial June 12 crisis and his governance between 1985 and 1993. He admitted that his reputation as a “dictator” had contributed to widespread misunderstandings about his administration.

This week, the IBB Presidential Library Foundation Board of Trustees distributed invitations for the memoir’s official launch. The event will double as a fundraiser for a presidential library and will be hosted at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The launch will feature an impressive lineup of dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo as Chairman and President Bola Tinubu as the Special Guest of Honour. Ghana’s former President, Nana Akufo-Addo, will deliver the keynote address, while former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will serve as the book reviewer.

Other high-profile attendees include former Nigerian leaders Muhammadu Buhari, Yakubu Gowon, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Goodluck Jonathan. Theophilus Danjuma, former Defence Minister, and Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, are slated as chief launchers for the occasion.
