In a heartfelt appeal, the Honorable Ministers of Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, and the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, have urged the youths of the Niger Delta region to refrain from participating in a planned protest on August 1st organized by unidentified individuals.

The ministers issued this plea during an inspection and commissioning tour of various projects in Ogoniland over the weekend. They emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda is progressing well and that it would be counterproductive to disrupt the ongoing rejuvenation efforts with a protest led by anonymous figures.

The ministers highlighted the extensive developmental projects currently underway in Ogoniland as a testament to the administration’s commitment to uplifting the region. “The Niger Delta is on the brink of a new dawn,” said Engr. Momoh. “A faceless protest could derail the significant progress we have made.”

Both ministers stressed the dangers of such protests, drawing attention to the adverse effects of the #EndSARS protests in Lagos. Engr. Momoh pointed out that the protests, while initially well-intentioned, eventually led to widespread destruction and setbacks in the region’s development.

“A faceless protest lacks accountability and direction,” Minister Lawal noted. “It can easily be hijacked by individuals with ulterior motives, causing more harm than good. We urge the youths to engage in constructive dialogue and support the government’s initiatives aimed at sustainable development and poverty alleviation.”

President Tinubu’s policies are designed to lift the nation out of poverty and pave the way for sustainable development. Disrupting these efforts with protests, especially those led by unknown entities, could hinder the positive changes being implemented.

The ministers concluded their appeal by calling on the youths to focus on the tangible progress being made in their communities. The myriad of projects scattered across Ogoniland, from water facilities to environmental restoration initiatives, illustrate the administration’s dedication to improving the lives of the Niger Delta residents.

“We are committed to ensuring the rebirth of Ogoniland and the entire Niger Delta region,” said Engr. Momoh. “Let us not allow a faceless protest to jeopardize our shared future.”
