Abuja @50: Wike Declares War On Incomplete Projects, Promises Mega Overhaul!

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has reiterated the administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development across Abuja, especially as preparations intensify for the FCT’s 50th anniversary in 2026.

According to iReporter Online, Wike clarified that the recently commissioned projects were only part of President Bola Tinubu’s second-year achievements, not a final destination.

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Monday, he emphasized that much more lies ahead in the FCT’s development roadmap.

“Well, having commissioned does not mean our work has ended. What we commissioned is to celebrate the second year of Mr. President in office. There’s still more work to be done,” the minister said.

Wike highlighted ongoing critical projects such as roads from Pai to Gomani, Dei-Dei, and Karsana, in addition to the Court of Appeal Abuja Division, Justices’ Quarters, and the Board of Benchers Annex.

According to iReporter Online, the minister also announced progress in housing initiatives, including flats for the Nigerian Law School in Abuja. Other efforts, such as rural electrification and water supply in Kubwa, Karu, and Bwari, are also being accelerated.

In anticipation of Abuja’s golden jubilee in February 2026, Wike said the FCT Administration is planning a historic celebration.

He praised President Tinubu’s global outreach, citing the MoU signed in China for modern street lighting and security technology as a strategic leap forward.

“For your information, I have not rested, I have not taken any break, since after the commissioning, two weeks, 16 good days,” Wike noted, underscoring his personal dedication.

According to iReporter Online, the minister concluded by assuring residents that the work is far from over and that the FCT Administration remains focused on transforming Abuja into a world-class capital and a true symbol of national unity.
