Airport Police Reveal Exciting Plans For 2026 National Police Day

The Airport Police Command has announced its plans to honour fallen officers as part of the 2026 National Police Day celebration, highlighting a series of activities aimed at strengthening ties between the police and the public, especially within the aviation community. According to Ireporter Online, the event, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” is designed to foster collaboration, deepen engagement, and enhance public confidence in law enforcement.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammed Adeola, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed that the week-long programme will commence on Monday, March 30, with a sanitation and environmental cleaning exercise. A walkathon promoting fitness and unity among officers and residents will follow on Tuesday, March 31, while Wednesday, April 1, is set aside for public sensitisation campaigns targeting drivers and other key stakeholders in the airport environment.

A major highlight of the celebration is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, when families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty will be honoured with the presentation of cheques in recognition of their sacrifices. The festivities will culminate on Tuesday, April 7, at Eagle Square, Abuja, with a grand finale featuring a ceremonial parade, tactical displays, and events showcasing the professionalism and operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.

Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, Ogunbode Olufunke, described National Police Day as an opportunity to honour fallen heroes while inspiring serving officers. “National Police Day gives us the opportunity not only to honor the heroes who have laid down their lives in service but also to inspire a new generation of police officers committed to professionalism and community service,” she said. She emphasised that public engagement remains central to effective policing and expressed confidence in the Command’s readiness for the celebrations.

The Airport Police Command stated that all planned activities reflect the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to deepen community partnership and boost public confidence in the Force. Ogunbode affirmed, “This is our chance to demonstrate commitment, honor our heroes, and reinforce the values of service and trust that guide our work every day.”
