The tweet was sent on June 8, but Mr Adamu was tracked down by a team of detectives on November 18 in Dutse, Jigawa State, and brought to Abuja.
According to the police, the alleged offense, which bordered on defamation and cyberstalking, violated Section 391 of the Penal Code.
Aisha Buhari, the nominal complainant, is one of five witnesses assembled by the prosecution to establish the case against Mr Adamu, according to a list of witnesses attached to the proof of evidence filed by the police on Wednesday night.
