APC Chairman Denies Defamation Claims By Ighodalo

Naija News recalls that Tenebe, in a viral video from December 10, accused Ighodalo of corruption and misappropriating state funds following a blunder made by Governor Monday Okpebholo during the presentation of his N605 billion budget estimates to the Edo House of Assembly.

According to the APC leader, former Governor Godwin Obaseki and Ighodalo would not have made such mistakes had they not been involved in stealing substantial amounts of money.

In response, Ighodalo, through his legal representatives, demanded an apology and retraction of the allegations concerning the misappropriation of public funds amounting to billions. He indicated that failure to comply within seven days would result in legal action against Tenebe.

However, Tenebe, in a statement released in Abuja by his lawyer, Blessing Agbomhere, maintained that he had not defamed Ighodalo and asserted that an apology or retraction was unnecessary, insisting his comments were warranted.

Agbomhere stated, “We want to make it clear that our client has not defamed your client in any manner, and therefore, there is no need for a public apology or retraction of the comments made in the alleged video. If your client chooses to escalate this matter by pursuing legal action, we will rely on the defense of justification, referencing the report from the Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee, which indicted your client, as well as the preliminary findings of the Edo State Asset Verification Committee.
