According to Ireporter Online, troops of the Nigerian Army have apprehended 10 suspected terrorists and successfully rescued three kidnapped victims during coordinated security operations conducted across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and parts of the North-Central region.

The operations, detailed in an official report released on Wednesday in Abuja, were carried out under internal security missions including Operation MESA and Operation WHIRL STROKE.

In the FCT, personnel of the 176 Guards Battalion, working under Operation MESA in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser tracking team, intercepted two suspects at a snap checkpoint in Abaji. The individuals were reportedly travelling in a commercial vehicle from Kaduna to Asaba before being arrested and taken into custody for further investigation.

In Benue State, troops on fighting patrol under Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested two additional suspects in Gwer West Local Government Area, recovering two motorcycles during the operation.

Further intelligence-led operations in Nasarawa State led to the arrest of six suspected terrorists and drug peddlers in the Karshi area of Karu Local Government Area. Security forces reportedly recovered a locally fabricated pistol, cartridges, and other items from the suspects, who are currently being interrogated.

The report also highlighted successful anti-kidnapping efforts in Benue State, where swift military response forced kidnappers to abandon their victims. One victim was rescued in Mbakange, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area and handed over to the police, while two others were freed in a separate operation in Agidi, Konshisha Local Government Area.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to sustained operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and enhancing security across the country.
