Adeleke Increase Salaries Of UNIOSUN Staff, Promising Better Welfare Under His Leadership
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has increased the salary of teaching and non-teaching workers of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) by 25 per cent and 35 per cent.
Adeleke, during the 14th convocation of the institution held in Osogbo at the weekend, said the institution was running smoothly because there was no tradition of ‘aluta’ and strikes by workers.
He said: “UNIOSUN has established a ‘no-strike, no aluta’ tradition, and it is these that keep the university up when other schools are down. This culture of no strike and no ‘aluta’ does not in any way presuppose oppression or dictatorship. Rather, it is an indication of good leadership at all levels of the university governance.”
The governor said his administration prioritised the welfare of workers, hence, “in line with our commitment to the welfare of our citizens and the development of education in Osun State, we have approved the implementation of 25 per cent and 35 per cent salary increase for teaching and non-teaching workers of this university.”
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, said the success recorded by the school was as a result of hard work.
He said: “We secured additional admission quota for our Nursing from 75 to 150; and Law from 50 to 100. We increased our student intake from 4,500 in the previous year to 7,405.”
