Babachir Lawal Finally Sees The Truth About Peter Obi – Onanuga Drops Bombshell
According to Ireporter Online, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has expressed alignment with comments made by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, concerning the political style of former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following recent defections into the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
It was reported that Peter Obi, alongside a 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), recently left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the NDC, a development that has continued to generate political reactions across the country.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE Television’s ‘Prime Time’ programme, Babachir Lawal argued that a politician who avoids electoral primaries should not be in politics, adding that Peter Obi prefers consensus arrangements designed in his favour rather than competitive party primaries.
Reacting to the remarks, Onanuga stated that Babachir Lawal had now come to a clearer understanding of Obi’s political approach, describing it as self-serving and centred around personal advantage. He further alleged that Obi tends to align with political structures built by others rather than contributing to party-building efforts, claiming that such behaviour reflects a pattern of prioritising personal ambition over collective political development.
The exchange has continued to stir political discussions, with supporters and critics of the various figures weighing in on the broader implications for party politics and internal democracy ahead of future elections.
