According to Ireporter Online, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has dismissed claims suggesting that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is being used to secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Onanuga made the clarification in a statement shared on Wednesday via his handle, responding to comments made by former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, regarding alleged political movements involving Peter Obi and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Melaye had earlier criticized Obi’s political trajectory, alleging that the former Anambra State governor avoids internal party competition and has consistently benefited from what he described as “easy tickets” across different political platforms. He further claimed that the NDC was operating as an extension of the APC.

In his reaction, Onanuga firmly rejected the allegation, insisting that the APC has no connection with or influence over the NDC. He also urged Melaye to address his grievances with Obi without dragging the ruling party into the matter.

The presidential aide maintained that the claim was misleading and without basis, stressing that the NDC operates independently and should not be portrayed as a proxy for the APC.

Onanuga wrote that the APC should not be drawn into internal political disputes between other actors, reaffirming that “the NDC is not an agent of the APC.”
