According to Ireporter Online, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, disclosed on Friday that Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, visited him at home to request a postponement of the recent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention. Wike said Bala Mohammed urged him to delay the convention to allow ongoing reconciliation efforts within the party to continue, but the request was declined.

Wike likened politics to football, noting that reconciliation is achievable despite differences. He recounted that Bala Mohammed contacted his Aide-de-Camp to arrange a meeting, arriving at Wike’s residence around 11 p.m. to discuss the possibility of postponing the convention. Wike explained that he rejected the proposal, stressing that the convention was necessary as mandated by a committee of prominent Nigerians, and that delaying it would have been improper. He further stated that while Bala Mohammed accused the committee of bias, his faction adhered to the court’s guidance and did not seek judicial validation for their convention
