Bauchi Governor Defends Criticism of President Tinubu Amid Nationwide Protests

Speaking before the Bauchi State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, Governor Mohammed emphasized that his comments were intended to be constructive and not to incite discontent.

Governor Bala Mohammed’s Position: Governor Mohammed explained that his criticism stemmed from a place of concern for both the President and the Nigerian populace. “I spoke constructively as an opposition and somebody who means well for the president, the government, and the people of Nigeria,” he stated. The governor stressed that his intention was never to cause discord or insult anyone but to highlight the issues affecting Nigerians.

Calls for a Better Nigeria: In a related development, the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministries, William Kumuyi, has also expressed hope for a better Nigeria. Speaking to journalists after arriving at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Kumuyi advocated for dialogue between the Federal Government and the youth as a means to resolve grievances. He emphasized that positive change can be achieved without resorting to destruction or retaliation.

Support for Farmers in Sokoto South: Meanwhile, in Sokoto South, Senator Aminu Tambuwal has commenced the distribution of 4,200 bags of fertilizers to farmers. This initiative aims to boost agricultural productivity during the rainy season. Senator Tambuwal, represented by his Special Adviser on Constituency Affairs and Stakeholders Engagements, Aminu Bodinga, disclosed that the fertilizers provided by the Federal Government were supplemented to ensure coverage for all seven local governments in the district.

Defense Minister Calls for Increased Ammunition Production: On a different note, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, highlighted the urgent need for the Nigerian Armed Forces to secure 200 million rounds of ammunition annually. During the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of an ammunition production factory in Nigeria, Matawalle pointed out that the lack of self-sufficiency in defense production has been a longstanding issue for the country.
