Speaking at an assessment of the National Agricultural Growth Scheme in Gombe State, Abubakar stressed the importance of the initiative, which aims to address Nigeria’s food importation challenges and reduce costs for local consumers. By improving local wheat production, he hopes to see a 60% increase in yield and create a robust agricultural framework that supports economic growth.

The Minister also emphasized ongoing efforts to ensure year-round farming to avoid food crises and highlighted the importance of logistics in timely distribution to farmers. Additionally, he unveiled plans to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) centers in Gombe to reduce transportation costs, which are a major driver of food inflation.
