Breaking: Biafra Republic In-Exile Rejects June-12 Democracy Day Celebration
The Biafra Republic Government In-Exile has firmly stated that the Southeast populace has no affiliation with Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebrations. The separatist faction asserts that May 30th holds significance as the recognized day for commemoration and public holiday within Biafra land.
Prime Minister of the group, Simon Ekpa, articulated this stance in a statement released on Monday. He emphasized that May 30th remains the sole acknowledged holiday in the region.
Ekpa urged Biafrans to continue with their daily activities, affirming that the pursuit of Biafra’s independence declaration remains on course. He expressed confidence that those opposing Biafra’s aspirations would ultimately be unsuccessful.
“The Nigeria public holidays are no longer recognized as an official National Day within Biafra Territory. We only recognized the 30th of May. Biafrans will continue to observe international holidays while we look forward to the official national holidays upon declaration of the restoration of Biafra Independent,” Ekpa asserted.
Ireporteronline previously reported a region-wide lockdown in the Southeast due to a sit-at-home directive observed on May 30th, a day dedicated to honoring the memory of those who perished during the Civil War spanning from July 6, 1967, to January 15, 1970.
