Breaking: Court Clears Fayose of All Money Laundering Allegations in Major Legal Victory
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has been fully acquitted of all money laundering charges after a Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed the case brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The decision, delivered on Tuesday, July 16, 2025, found that the evidence presented by the EFCC was insufficient to sustain the accusations.
According to iReporter Online, the court upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, which means the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case strong enough to necessitate further defence. As a result, the judge ruled that the charges were baseless, effectively clearing the former governor of any wrongdoing.
Fayose had been facing serious allegations related to money laundering and fraud during his time as governor of Ekiti State. However, after a lengthy legal battle, this recent ruling marks a major victory for him. The court’s decision ends a protracted legal saga that has captured public attention for years.
Further details surrounding the case and its implications are expected to emerge in the coming days.
