BREAKING: Court Sacks Imo PDP Reps Member, Ugochinyere

Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere

The Imo State National and State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal has made a significant ruling, nullifying the election of Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Ideato North/South Federal Constituency.

Ugochinyere, who contested on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, has been unanimously declared as not having been validly nominated by the PDP for the election that took place on February 25.

Consequently, the tribunal has issued an order to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organize a supplementary election in the constituency within a span of 90 days.

This supplementary election will specifically target 55 polling units where elections did not occur on the previously mentioned date. The PDP and its candidate will not participate in this supplementary election, as per the tribunal’s ruling.

This crucial decision comes in the wake of a petition filed by Abazu Chika Benson, a candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC), against Ugochinyere’s election.
