While Buhari’s administration is often praised for projects like the Second Niger Bridge and the Kano – Maradi rail line linking Niger Republic, Yusuf argues that Katsina and the broader North West region saw minimal development under his leadership.

Yusuf criticized the North’s representation in Buhari’s government, pointing out the creation of the North East Development Commission by the chief of staff and the presence of a Vice President, National Security Adviser, and other officials from the region. Despite this representation, Yusuf contends that developmental issues persist in the North West.

He highlighted the incomplete Abuja-Kano highway after eight years and questioned the effectiveness of Northern governors in addressing regional challenges, particularly regarding education, health, and security.
