BREAKING: ‘Heavy Fight’ As DSS, Prison Officials Clash At Lagos Court Over Emefiele’s Custody (VIDEO)
Officials from the Nigeria Correctional Centre (NCC) and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) engaged in a dispute over the custody of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, on Tuesday.
The clash between the secret police and prison officials occurred after Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N20 million. The judge also ordered that Emefiele be remanded at the correctional center until the bail conditions were met.

Following the court ruling, DSS operatives positioned their Hilux Pick Up van, which was used to bring Emefiele to court, in a manner suggesting that they intended to take him back to their detention center.
Emefiele’s lead counsel, Joseph Daudu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and other lawyers raised an alarm about their client’s potential re-arrest by the secret police.
In response, when the prison officials attempted to take Emefiele into custody pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions, the secret police challenged them, resulting in a physical altercation.
