Breaking: NANS Urges Tinubu To Investigate Interior Minister Tunji-Ojo Over N438.1 Million Consultancy Contract, Betta Edu Case
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on President Bola Tinubu to initiate an investigation into the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo….CONTINUE READING
The association insists that the minister should be probed regarding his alleged connection to a N438.1 million consultancy contract with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by its president, Pedro Obi, NANS formally made the request for the investigation.
The call for scrutiny comes in the wake of the suspension of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, who is accused of channeling N585 million in Federal Government funds into a personal account.
Amid these allegations, there are claims that a company reportedly owned by Tunji-Ojo, named New Planet Project Limited, received N438.1 million for consultancy services from Edu’s ministry.
While Tunji-Ojo has acknowledged his association with the company, he clarified that he resigned in 2019 when he contested for the House of Representatives.
The minister emphasized that he is merely a shareholder and is not actively involved in the company’s day-to-day operations.
Despite Tunji-Ojo’s denial, NANS is steadfast in its call for an investigation. The statement issued by NANS expressed embarrassment over the financial scandal in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and emphasized the need for clarity on the alleged payment to the company owned by the Minister of Interior
