Breaking: New Terrorist Group Lukarawas Infiltrates Northwest DHQ Confirms

The terrorists reportedly began infiltrating northern Sokoto and Kebbi States, crossing from the Niger Republic and Mali, especially after the political upheaval in Niger. Prior to the coup, joint border operations had helped prevent such incursions by collaborating with Nigerien forces.

“The breakdown in cooperation between the two nations provided an opportunity for the terrorists, who exploited difficult terrain to penetrate remote areas of the northwest and spread their extremist agenda,” Buba stated.

He further revealed that local communities initially welcomed the group, believing they had good intentions, and thus failed to report their activities to security authorities.

Buba reassured the public that Nigerian troops are actively pursuing intelligence-gathering efforts and employing surveillance to combat the group. Despite their efforts to use the vast, under-governed regions to evade detection, the military is making progress in neutralizing the threat.
