Speaking through the EFCC’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwujaren, Olukoyede emphasized the commission’s dedication to upholding the law and combating corruption. He stated, “No one is above the law, and no case shall be swept under the carpet.” Olukoyede affirmed that high-profile cases, including Mattawalle’s, would be thoroughly reviewed, and appropriate actions taken based on the law.
The Zamfara Alternative Forum had urged the EFCC to resume its investigation into the alleged ₦70 billion money laundering during Mattawalle’s tenure as governor.
The group emphasized the need for accountability in public office to deter others from engaging in corrupt practices, highlighting the detrimental effects of mismanagement of public funds on development, revenue loss, and citizens’ quality of life.
The minister is currently under investigation by the EFCC for allegations related to corruption, phantom contracts, and diversion of over N70 billion.
