Breaking News: Federal Government’s IPPIS-HR Initiative Promises Transparent And Efficient Payroll System!

The Federal Government, via the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), recently conducted a one-day sensitization program on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System-Human Resource (IPPIS-HR) for officers on Grade Levels 12 and above from 40 selected non-core Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), was represented at the event by Dr. Deborah Odoh, Permanent Secretary of the Service Policies and Strategies Office (SPSO) at OHCSF.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Odoh explained that the initial focus of IPPIS implementation was solely on payroll management, aimed at curbing financial leakages caused by ghost workers. This approach, however, left a gap in the Human Resource (HR) component, resulting in various implementation challenges.

“To address these issues, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has initiated steps to implement the HR module of IPPIS,” Dr. Odoh stated.

She emphasized that the HR module is a key focus area in the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP-25). “I encourage you to take this session seriously and utilize the support from the World Bank to enhance the IPPIS-HR implementation across the selected 40 MDAs,” she urged.

Dr. Odoh also highlighted the importance of the participants applying the knowledge gained and ensuring that their respective MDAs adopt a reliable and transparent IPPIS-HR system, free from corrupt practices.

She expressed gratitude for the support provided by the World Bank through the Fiscal Governance and Institutions Project (FGIP), which is instrumental in the successful roll-out of the IPPIS-HR module.
