In a significant legal development, the Supreme Court delivered a crucial verdict on Thursday in the appeals against Bola Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Tribunal Court (PEPC). Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had sought permission from the court to present additional evidence, aiming to establish that Tinubu had submitted a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Atiku’s counsel, Chris Uche (SAN), pressed for the admission of a comprehensive 32-page document, emphasizing the importance of justice. He pointed to Section 285(5) of the 1999 Constitution, which dictates that the PEPC has the authority to hear and resolve all petitions arising from presidential elections.
