Businesses In Sokoto Slowly Reopen As Protests Wind Down
Normalcy has gradually returned to Sokoto State as the nationwide protest against bad governance enters the second day.
Ireporteronline recalls that all the major streets, including the front gate of the state Government House, were occupied by protesters on Thursday when the protests began.
However, all the major streets on Friday were devoid of protesters as businesses slowly reopened.
According to Punch, streets such as Bello Way, Gusau Road, Sultan Palace, Government House and Emir Yahya Roads, were all abandoned by protesters.
Some traders, especially along the old market, Sahara, and Central Market, slightly opened their shops for business transactions on Friday.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, banks and some government offices remain under lock.

The incident occurred on Saturday near Kwanan Maharba as they were returning from Sokoto.
The Sole Administrator of Sabon Birni LGA, Garba Umar Kaba, confirmed the abduction.
“I don’t know the exact time the incident happened, but according to the briefings obtained from security operatives, they were abducted at Kwanan Maharba while coming back from Sokoto,” Kada stated.
While speaking with DailyTrust on the abduction, Kaba added, “We are still waiting for their call in order to know why they abducted them and what they want.”
Kaba expressed frustration over the continuous attacks on their communities despite efforts to enhance security.
“We have been supporting security operatives to patrol our communities, but we are still recording incidences of abduction and attacks,” he lamented.
