Community Watch Corps (CWC), and local vigilantes led to the rescue of 10 abductees after an intense firefight.
Bakatsine voiced growing concerns over the deteriorating security in Katsina South Senatorial District, attributing the surge in attacks to the peace accord recently brokered in neighboring Kaduna State.
“Last night, bandits blocked the Ni’asu-Dantankari road, opening fire on vehicles and kidnapping 13 people. However, a combined team of the Nigerian Army, CWC, and vigilantes pursued and engaged the criminals, successfully rescuing 10 victims,” Bakatsine wrote.
He added, “Frankly, the peace deal in Kaduna State has triggered increased attacks in Katsina South Senatorial District, which borders Kaduna.”
Meanwhile, the nationwide enforcement of Third-Party Motor Insurance by the Nigerian Police, which began on February 1, 2025, continues as officers intensify efforts to restore safety on the roads.
