China Reaffirms Support For Nigeria’s Battle Against Terrorism

According to reports, the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria has reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Nigeria in its fight against terrorism. The declaration was made by Chinese Ambassador Yu Dunhai during a meeting with Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Maitama Tuggar on Wednesday.

During the discussion, both officials underscored the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and manufacturing, while strengthening strategic ties. Ambassador Yu highlighted that the China-Nigeria comprehensive strategic partnership is progressing rapidly through collaborative efforts.

The ambassador also emphasized that China has consistently supported Nigeria on matters relating to its core interests and is prepared to implement zero-tariff treatment for Nigerian exports. He further announced plans to commemorate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria, as well as the 2026 China-Africa Year of Cultural Exchanges.

“China and Nigeria have always understood and supported each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests. China also supports Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism,” Ambassador Yu said. “These initiatives will consolidate strategic mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and deliver greater benefits to both nations’ citizens.”

In response, Minister Tuggar expressed Nigeria’s appreciation for China’s support, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the one-China principle, and pledged to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
