The release of VeryDarkMan, aged 27, came after allegations of cyberbullying landed him in police custody, with activist Omoyele Sowore denouncing the arrest as an abuse of power and an attempt to stifle dissent.

Deji Adeyanju took to X, a social media platform, to announce the news of VeryDarkMan’s release, expressing gratitude to all supporters, including Sowore and the legal team.

He underscored the collaborative effort behind securing VeryDarkMan’s freedom after a tumultuous five-day ordeal.

“After five days of negotiations, we have successfully secured VDM’s release. Grateful to everyone who contributed, especially Sowore, Kefiano & VDM’s exceptional legal team,” he stated.

This incident marks the second time VeryDarkMan has been arrested this year, the first being in January following a complaint by actress Tonto Dikeh over derogatory comments he made regarding the late Nigerian singer Mohbad’s case, which he dismissed as ‘chasing clout’ after the singer’s demise.
