The trial, which commenced on April 16, involves a three-count charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged naira abuse. Cubana Chief Priest was formally arraigned the following day at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
During the court proceedings, the social media celebrity pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him. Subsequently, Judge Kehinde Ogundare granted him bail in the sum of N10 million, requiring two responsible sureties in like sum to perfect the bail conditions within seven days.
It was stipulated that Cubana Chief Priest would be released to his lawyer, provided the lawyer undertook to produce him at the appointed time. However, failure to comply with this condition would result in his remand in a correctional facility.
The continuation of the trial signals a significant development in the legal proceedings surrounding the allegations against Cubana Chief Priest.
